FAQ

Why should I attend personal therapy?

Attending therapy can be an opportunity to have a non-judgmental, confidential environment where you feel supported and understood. As a psychologist, I can be your partner accompanying you on your journey of distress, crisis or transition where we collaboratively explore and tackle the issues that have led you to seek help.

How long will I attend for?

Although this answer may seem infuriating, the only answer I can give is ‘how long is a piece of string!’ The length of treatment can be negotiated in our initial assessment in accordance with the level of support you require; and will be reviewed regularly as the therapy progresses.

Do I have to do anything?

Yes, in short you do. You have unique insight into how your problems have affected you, what’s useful, what’s not, and so on; whereas I have the training and skills set to broaden your insight and understanding. This can aid your overall recovery and management of your difficulties to establish a greater quality of life.

Where is your office located?

My office is located on 13 Parnell Street, Waterford City , directly across from the National Zoo in the Woodley Park/Cleveland Park neighborhood. My office is a short walk from the Woodley Park and Cleveland Park stops on the Red Line of the Washington DC Metro.

What happens in a therapy session?

Therapy sessions will begin by going over how successful you were since the previous session in hitting your targets and what difficulties you had. We will then set an agenda, so we can efficiently use our time. We will be sure to take stock of why things went well, so it is clear how to ensure things can continue to go well. We will also utilize interventions to eliminate the existing problems by carefully analyzing them, and develop existing or new skills in order to better manage them in the coming week.
